28th February

We start a new unit in the coursebook, unit 9. During this unit we'll learn about the past simple.
To introduce the topic, we review the numbers from 1-1000, then we study how to say the dates. We listen and underline the years he hear (T.9.1).
Then, we study some expressions in the past form to practice the past simple of the verb to be. One of these phrases is the question: When were you born?
The students listen and write the years when Jane Austen and Luciano Pavarotti were born.
Then, the have to practise in pairs but using this question with the different persons :
When were you born?
When was he born?
When was she born?
When were they born?
After that, we listen to Magalie talking about her family. The students have to note down the years they hear and also the relationship they have with Magalie (T.9.6). After listening, they work in pairs and ask and asnwer question about Magalie's family.
To consolidate this topic, the students write the names of two people and their classmates need to ask questions to know more about them.
To finish the class, we match some photographs with the professions and then listen and write the years we hear( 9.7).
We learn how to make questions in the past simple form of the verb to be and how to negate.
Who was Shakespeare?
He wasn't a singer. He was a writer.
