25th April

During this session we continued working the differences between would like+noun, would like to+verb.

We started the class listening to a couple talking about his birthday, the students had to tell why the man was not happy and what the woman wanted to do. After that they need to complete the blanks in a dialogue.
Then, we listened to 3 people talking about their birthday wishes and they students completed a chart. To consolidate these 2 structures, they students had to interviewed their partners asking:

What would you like for your birthday?

What would you like to do on your birthday?

After that, we studied another important structure: Like+verb-ing, like+noun

First we listened to 2 dialogues and the students decides which conversation was about what you like day after day and which conversation was about what you want to do now.

To finish the class, we did two oral activities. In one of them, the students talked about what they liked doing, theiir hobbies,etc...ANd so, we could practise the structure like+verb-ing
And in the other one, we consolidated the structure would like to+infinitive verb, to talk about our dreams in the near future.

18th April

Today, we finished unit 11 doing a role-play actvity. The students had to write a dialogue about a problem, and the read it out in class.
After that, we started a new unit. In unit 12 we talked about places (shops) and the activities you can do in those places. We listened to Adam shopping and tried to completed the conversations (T.12.2)
We learnt about a new structure: I'd Like...(I would like). We use this phrase to ask for things politely in a shop:

I'd like some ham, please

Or we can also ask for things or offer them with a question:

Would you like anything else?

Would you like something to eat?

We also remember when to use some/any:

some: affirmative

any: negative and questions

But we noticed that when we want to offer something to a friend we use some and not any in the question.

Would you like some cake?

This is because we expect a positive answer and we want our friend to feel comfortable.

We continued with another listening comprehension exercise, ex.2, and we completed 2 dialogues between Adam and a friend of his. To consolidate this new structure we role-played a situation with a classmate: we had to make our friend feel at home and offer him something to eat, drink or do.
We finished the class starting the grammar exercises form the photocopies. They need to be completed at home.

16th April

During this session we kept on working with the verb CAN. In this case, we read a text about Internet and the different things we can do on the Internet: you can chat with friends, you can send emails, you can listen to music,etc...
We answered some comprehension questions and correct some wrong sentences about the text.
And after that, we listened to 6 peope to talk about when and why they use Internet (t.11.9).
Then, we talked about everyday problems. We looked at some pictures on p.87 and tried to guess what the problem was., then, we match some sentences with the pictures and finally, we listened to some conversations and completed the gaps in the dialogues.
We finished the class, listening to more problems. First, we identidied the place where they happened and then, we answered the following questions in each case: What's the problem? What happens?

11th April

During this class, the students continued working with the verb CAN. On this ocassion they tried to distinguish between the affirtamtive and negative form pronunciation.
First, we listened to a girl, Jennifer, talking about herself. The students listened and ticked the activities she can do and then, we asked our classmates and teacher.(T.11.6)
We also learnt how to form adverbs from verbs. The regular way is to add the siffix -ly to the adjective. But we studied some irregular forms like well, hard and fast.
To apply this new grammar rule, we practised with our partners asking and answering questions about our abilities.
To finish the class, we learnt that CAN has another value: it is used to ask for permission, request and offer. We first reordered some words to create a request question and then, we matched the questions with their answers.

9th April

We started the class revising the pasi simple tense. We did a written activity. The students received a set of card and they had to put them in order and then tell a love story.
Then we went back to the book and started unit 11. First, we asked some questions about computers and what do we use it for.
After that, we paid attention to some pictures and matched them with the professions and roles and completed some sentences using these words.
Then, we learnt how to work with the verb CAN. We learnt that this is a modal verb and it had the same form for all the persons. It can't go with the auxiliary do and it is followed by the infinitive without to:

Affirmative: I can dance

Negative: I can't dance

Interrogative: Can you dance?

To finish the class we listened to Oliver and Dominique and tried to complete the gaps in the dialogue (T.11.4)
